Social Work Policy Institute Hosts Reception for Sarah Gehlert, following December 2009 delivery of the Behavioral and Social Sciences Research Lecture at the National Institutes of Health

Dr. Sarah Gehlert, the E. Desmond Lee Professor of Racial and Ethnic Diversity at the Brown School of Social Work, Washington University-St. Louis was the first social worker selected to deliver the NIH Behavioral and Social Sciences Research Lecture. Her lecture Breast Cancer and Social Interactions: Identifying Multiple Environments that Regulate Gene Expression describes the ground-breaking transdisciplinary research conducted at the Center for Interdisciplinary Health Disparities Research (CIHDR) at the University of Chicago.  A summary of the December 17, 2009 lecture is attached.  To view the presentation, the PowerPoint  slides can be found at: http://obssr.od.nih.gov/pdf/gehlert_bssr_lecture.pdf.
